Lisbon

One of the biggest cultural cities in the world, Lisbon was once under Roman rule — around 205 BC — when it was already a 1000 years town and received the name of Olissipo. The city was then captured by Moors in the 8th century and conquered in 1147 by the Crusaders of D. Afonso Henriques.

Lisbon has a Mediterranean climate strongly influenced by the Gulf stream. The city is mostly sunny throughout the year, and in fact one of the sunniest cities capitals in all Europe with an average of 3000h of sunshine. Summers are very warm and dry with average temperatures of 26–29°C, falling to 16–18°C at night. Winters are cool and and moist with temperatures rounding from 8 to 16°C, being the months of strongest rain April and October.
